• JOE BARER, PRESIDENT

  As the founder and President of Lake Partners, Joe has a broad experience base applying analytically driven techniques across high stakes topics and rapidly changing industries. He has strong expertise in segmentation and targeting, pricing strategy, new market entry, economic analysis and modeling, and operational improvements.

  Prior to returning home to Seattle and founding Lake Partners in 1997, Joe was part of the management team at Dean and Company in Vienna, VA. He began his consulting career with the Washington, D.C. firm Strategic Planning Associates (now Oliver Wyman).

  Joe graduated magna cum laude with a B.S.E. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, with concentrations in finance and marketing, and a B.A.S. from the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.

• CHARLES HELLAR, PARTNER

  A diverse background and exceptional analytical strengths make Charles not only an esteemed Partner at the firm – but more importantly, a powerful ally for our clients. He has direct experience in a number of industries including high tech, financial services, biotech and healthcare focusing on sales, marketing and operational improvements. Through this ongoing work, Charles has developed a particular expertise in financial and simulation modeling as well as investment research and analysis.

  Prior to joining Lake Partners in 2002, Charles was a member of the executive team at BDC Financial, a start-up in the private equity space which was later acquired by Bear Stearns. Before BDC, Charles was a Principal at Treacy and Company, a consulting and venture capital firm in Boston, MA.

  Charles graduated cum laude from Harvard College, with a concentration in political science and economics.
